Walking Dead s02e02

With the second episode of season two being a segway for more action and the character drama, it puts that human emotion firmly into the forefront. The focus of this episode pulls at the strings of the viewers hearts. Carl has been shot as Rick rushes to the farmhouse in the hope to save his son. As in the graphic novels several new characters are introduced. Two camps of survivors, our group that we’ve know and love and this new group that will be a treat to know more about them. With everything that has happened to our survivors it’s the personal relationships that shine. The scenes with Dale and T-dog back on the highway brings out the personal pain that weighs heavily on Dale in regards to Andreah and the others. T-Dog is quickly losing his fight to infection after slicing his arm.

When Lori is found by one of the farmhouse survivors and is taken back to the house. Lori has been slowly growing to be that leader the group needed, the one with the level head and firm hand. Now with finding out about Carl she further becomes the rock Rick needs. Moving to Shane and Otis trying to get into the FEMA camp at the nearby high school that has been overwhelmed by walkers. The two men prove that even as strangers, the cause of finding medical supplies for Carl takes them to a new level of heroism. Being surrounded by the dead, they become trapped.

The episode tries to bring the audience into the personal feelings of Rick and Lori and does a good job in doing so. Finding the mix of keeping things in a slower pace for this episode may give some viewers bored in finding some zombie smashing action. Not every episode will cater to everyone but with this one we can see what the writers were going for. The human factor and the results of each decision they make has some large reactions later on. With the trailer for next week’s episode the action fans will have some tense moments to deal with and with that will hopefully be satisfied as this great show continues on.
